Program Description:

Modeled after popular alternative break programs for college students, CivicWeek programs bring together diverse groups of outstanding high school students for intense, weeklong, service-learning immersion experiences in host communities around the country. Under the supervision of trained CEP staff, students spend their days engaged in meaningful service work and meetings with prominent leaders.

Host: The Civic Education Project (CEP) at Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development (CTD)

Qualifications: Grades 9-12

Program Dates / Length: One week programs; March 16-22, March 24-30, and March 30-April 5, 2008

Housing: Retreat-style housing at community centers or hostels

Cost / Availability of Financial Aid: CivicWeek 2008 Tuition = $820; A limited amount of need-based financial aid is available and is granted on a rolling basis.

Credit Awarded: Participants may be eligible for high school credit and approximately 40 hours community service-learning credit
