Kent School Summer Writers Camp

Location: Connecticut

Program Description:

Every writer needs to find the writer within. Kent School Summer Writers Camp helps aspiring writers discover and develop that critical inner voice. Offered to girls and boys entering grades 8, 9,10, and 11 this three-week educational and recreational program allows students to experience life in a boarding school setting. Limited to 50 campers with a teaching staff of twelve, participants benefit from individualized instruction and a strong sense of community. Designed for motivated students seeking enrichment in the universally applicable subject area of writing, participants explore their own voices through a variety of forms, including narrative, poetry, and essay writing. Daily sports and recreational activities, a Visiting Artist Workshop Series, field trips to drama productions, public speaking forums, and afternoon workshops are but a few components of this dynamic summer educational experience. Created in 1996, this program takes advantage of Kent School’s abundant resources and idyllic location on the banks of the Housatonic River in the Berkshire foothills of northwestern Connecticut.
