Program Description:

Explore college life at the University of Miami in this three-week program! The Summer Scholar Programs are designed to provide current high school sophomores and juniors with the opportunity to learn about a collegiate discipline and the career paths that could result from further study. Learn the importance of time management, responsibility, self motivation, and facilitates meeting a diverse group of people from around the world. The University of Miami provides expert instructors and occasional guest lecturers for each faculty-led program. This unique, student-centered curriculum involves hands-on learning and may include a variety of educational field trips. College credit-bearing courses consist of only summer scholars, and the course objectives are tailored for a high school audience. There are optional recreational activities provided on and off campus that are chaperone by the program staff. Not only is this program meant to be a summer study experience, but it should also help students make more informed decisions about their future college major and educate them about becoming independent young adults. Interested students should be current high school sophomores or juniors and possess at least a 3.0 GPA.

Programs include: Business, Broadcast Journalism, Engineering, Filmmaking, Forensic Investigation, French, Health and Medicine, International Relations, Marine Science,Spanish, Sports Management, Sports Medicine, and Writer’s Symposium.

Cost / Availability of Financial Aid: Residential Program: $5340 - includes everything except travel before and after the program, and spending money. Commuter Program: $4,440 - includes lunches, tuition, books/printed materials, and activities

Credit Awarded: 3 - 6 college credit hours (can be transferred to other colleges/used as high school credit)
